Shirogane had just enough fuel to get the original pickup point. But a different route means either he runs out of fuel, or the fleet is destroyed in the Tsunami.

Shirogane can't be sent back in the direction of the mainland. The Susano-O's self-destruction will create tsunamis that can destroy a fleet.

The question is how to get Shirogane to the recovery fleet's pickup point. Ozawa says he has a plan.
