He's told that there’s no time to argue, and that he has to go before the Laser Class arrive, but still he insists. The rest of his platoon intervenes to persuade him.

Takeru gets annoyed at himself, too. He's been forced to use hypnotic suggestions and drugs, and treated like an errand boy. He's better than this, he says.

Kasumi wakes up the new Lieutenant with her “Wingman,” Usa-san. Takeru says that Kasumi isn’t a soldier, and so he wants her to wake him up like normal.

The command room begins the exercise. Yuuko's mode in the command room is serious, even as the new surface pilots are jovial.

The Fubukis race across the practice ground. Takeru is even more excited. Now he may be able to save the world.
