Takeru isn't ready to kill her. But Yuuko tells him that Alternative IV is about to get to the point of no return, and there's no need to hesitate.

After the meeting with Yuuko, Takeru went to the tuning room. Sumika, who was watching Kasumi's ayatori, notices someone coming inside. The door of memory opens again…

Takeru isn't ready to kill her. But Yuuko tells him that Alternative IV is about to get to the point of no return, and there's no need to hesitate.

Yuuko continues to press him. Are you afraid of killing people? Can't get your hands dirty? But still, Takeru lowers the muzzle of his gun.

Sumika is becoming even more unstable: her hatred for BETA, her perception of Takeru, her confused memories, and the information in her quantum conductive brain are rapidly being stirred up.

Meiya talks to Takeru as if she's forgiven him. He feels so awkward that he can't apologize immediately.

Takeru wonders why the Unit 00 has taken Sumika's form. Why would they need to do that...?

"I neither gave nor took away the chance." Yuuko says she worked with him because their interests were aligned. Nothing more.

Yuuko tells Takeru that he can only stay in his old world for somewhere between 15 and 18 hours.

Takeru feels that the last words of the message, “My heart is always with you,” were directed at Meiya.

The team is happy to have Mikoto back. The bonds between the team after their days of difficult training are strong.

In first period on Monday morning, Yuuko loudly announces that she's handing back tests.

Mikoto tries to eat a mikan orange placed before a buddha statue, and a dog howls her off.

Chizuru weeps as she thanks her instructor. Jinguuji smiles as she reminds them that they don't need to speak so politely to someone they outrank.

The new pilots walk up to Sgt. Jinguuji as she talks to herself. For a moment, they're caught off guard when she refers to them by their new ranks. They now outrank their instructor.

“But there’s something else that’s just as important. A heart that believes. Right now, for the first time in history all humanity is bound together.

Sumika stares off into space, lost in thought. What’s inside her heart?

Sumika demands to know what the hell Takeru is doing.

Takeru asks them where the other members of the team are. Meiya and Ayamine have finished their breakfast, and Mikoto was taken away after the coup and has yet to return.

Takeru is happy to see Chizuru's feminine side again. In the background, Meiya denies Sumika’s accusations. Mikoto and Ayamine arrive too.

Soldiers from Yokohama base, including instructor Jinguuji, arrive at the hall. With them is...

Suddenly, the lights at the top of the hall go on, and the door opens. The other participants in the meeting have arrived.

Takeru wakes up to a gentle voice calling him, and sees a near-naked Meiya. Shocked to wake up to a girl in his bed, Takeru lets his gaze wander.

Takeru's one-week absence had been documented as a dangerous and top-secret mission on the front lines, ordered by Yuuko personally.

The letter that Yuuko of the "original world" had tucked into the coat was addressed to her other self. What was written in the letter...?

The Yuuko of the "other world" had already anticipated this situation. It was all written in the documents he had given her when he requested the formula.

His emotions were showing on his face. Yuuko warns him. "It's fine to be emotional, but if you don't shape up, you'll end up as somebody's pawn for the rest of your life."

Takeru's one-week absence had been documented as a dangerous and top-secret mission on the front lines, ordered by Yuuko personally.

The behavior exhibited by the 00 Unit was unprecedented. Yuuko guesses that Takeru's presence is a factor in this.

The two easily broke through the fence and successfully entered. Yuuko tells Takeru that he may have time-traveled before, and somehow his memory of it is missing.

The lights around the entrance gate go out. Takeru's training in the other world has paid off again.

Sumika was there. There was no way he could be mistaken. He's unexpectedly reunited with his childhood friend.

It's been a long time since Takeru's been to the PX. The lunch lady is happy to see him. At last, the person they're waiting for is here!

The others leave. As she goes, Usuki gives Takeru some food. A welcome present?

Takeru begs for another chance to save the world, but Yuuko throws cold water on his misunderstanding

The Valkyries members were all pupils of Sgt. Jinguuji. They feel a responsibility just like him, she says.

207B rejoices in Takeru's safe return.

Takeru also recited the Isumi Valkyries Code, and his induction ceremony ended. Now it’s time for a lecture to get him caught up on the past week.

Lt. Hayase calls out to him. She heard he was badly shaken by Sgt. Jinguuji's death, and has come to see him.

All the equipment involved in the transfer process is ready. It's finally time.

The only way to thank those who died is for those who survived to use what they taught us. Only then can you accept the death of a comrade.

To continue to endure a world where he must suffer the deaths of others and to one day save all the worlds he has been involved in. Only Takeru, the causal conductor, can do this.

The corners of Yuuko's mouth turn up at the sight of the 00 Unit's behavior. Kasumi tries to read Sumika's mental state, but she cannot see anything clear.

The entrance gate is closed. (Obviously. It's after hours.)

Takeru has returned so that he'll never lose the people he was reunited with once more.

Takeru is suddenly asked about his feelings for Sumika. Yuuko keeps telling him that he’s not being loud enough.

The only cylinder that was in operation contained a figure that appeared to be a woman, a 00 unit. Yuuko instructs Kasumi to bring her to her office.

Yuuko's documents in "The Other World" contained clever lies as well as the truth.

Yuuko drives her beloved car to the place where Takeru’s return to the "other world" will be realized.

Sumika slightly reacts to Takeru's words, and Takeru takes this opportunity to get her more excited. "We haven't done everything we wanted to do yet, have we?"

The former 207B members need to finish training with the rest of the Valkyries, too. A-01's next mission is to serve as the 00 Unit's escort.

Sumika looks Takeru in the eye as he tells her that he's not going anywhere. "Really?" she asks. For the first time, a gentle color appears in her heart.

The time had come for him to come back to this hill, filled with precious memories of Sumika.

What happened to Takeru and Sumika in "this world"? Sumika, weakened, leans on Takeru, who shivers.

Sumika's becoming the 00 unit has meaning, and to prove that, he will complete the tuning. That is the only atonement Takeru can do.

Sumika's head aches more and more, and she becomes even more violent. She shakes off Takeru's hand and writhes in pain.

The memory of having Takeru taken from her drives Sumika to revenge. Takeru hugs Sumika tightly, saying he will never leave her alone.

A Christmas present for Sumika. An old promise. Takeru begins to talk about why he decided to give her a present.

Yuuko urges him to shoot her if he can't forgive her.

Sumika continues to flail about in Takeru's arms. Perhaps her mind is flooded with memories of when she was captured by the BETA...

"I still want to stay here. We can keep each other warm… Because you're back. You'll be with me again."

Cpt. Isumi tells Takeru that with no other reinforcements coming, she's happy to have a star player like Takeru. He should expect to be badly overworked.

Takeru salutes his predecessors. He's welcomed back from his special mission on the front lines.

Yuuko had already assumed that Takeru would escape then come back. Surprised and annoyed by this, Takeru finds himself glaring at her.

August 5th, 1999. Operation Lucifer. In the depths of Yokohama Hive, the only person to be captured by the BETA and survive is found.

Sumika's cries echo through the tuning room. She is unaware of her surroundings, and just keeps vomiting out her murderous intent toward the BETA.

Takeru has finally grown up enough to be truly trustworthy. Yuuko smiles.

August 5th, 1999. Operation Lucifer. In the depths of Yokohama Hive, the only person to be captured by the BETA and survive is found.

Takeru is in front of her, and he calls out loudly. A vision of a BETA's jaws comes to her. Sumika is further trapped in the memories of her fear.

Takeru's trauma of the BETA is not completely gone. He’s given a hypnotic treatment to deal with the situation.

Kasumi has nothing to apologize for. It's Takeru who should apologize, for running away.

After seeing how strong Takeru was as a trainee, seeing him this successful isn't much of a surprise.

Takeru was simply happy that Sumika wasn't in this world, and avoided thinking any more about what the brainstem might be because he was scared of the implications. It meant no more to him than that.
