The memory of Takeru Shirogane disappeared from Kagami Sumika. The world does not forgive Takeru. There are no exceptions. Hope has been destroyed again.

Hearing Yuuko's guess, Takeru finally realized that what Sumika was about to say in that park was the truth about her diaries.

Takeru thought she had come to pick him up because he was running late, but Meiya says she doesn't know about the promise to go out together.

I broke a fossil. He told the teachers he did it. My dream is to be with Takeru! That's it!

Sumika was hurt by Takeru's words. Even so, her feelings for him remain unchanged.

Takeru continues to reject Sumika's feelings. If he doesn't, he can't protect her…

From the gym where Sumika is comes the screams of another female student, and a loud noise, as if a heavy object had fallen.

The role given to Takeru is to debug and adjust the 00 unit. Yuuko calls it "tuning."

Takeru finished the dense classroom lecture by Captain Isumi. He's exhausted.

Cpt. Isumi tells Takeru that with no other reinforcements coming, she's happy to have a star player like Takeru. He should expect to be badly overworked.

What does he have to offer her? Takeru is at a loss for an answer, but Yuuko tells him that if he passes an "interview," he will be given a role.

Takeru was simply happy that Sumika wasn't in this world, and avoided thinking any more about what the brainstem might be because he was scared of the implications. It meant no more to him than that.
