With all support bombardment going to cover the A-01 unit, the other units were struggling. Akira fights while his colleagues spit curses.

The Susano-O begins to refill the charged particle cannon. The Valkyries resume its escort.

Shirogane had just enough fuel to get the original pickup point. But a different route means either he runs out of fuel, or the fleet is destroyed in the Tsunami.

In the Shinano's CIC, Captain Abe and the other personnel in charge are also witnessing the destruction of the hive's surface structure by the charged particle cannon.

All units participating in the operation are notified of the impending arrival of the Orbital Divers. If the Laser Class intercept them, the forces below may be hit by flaming wreckage falling from the sky.

The fact that the Valkyries aren't being attacked by Lasers indicates that their target is likely the Susano-O. The BETA have powerful detection capabilities.

Takeru watches the operation unfold. This is the start of mankind's counterattack.

The submarines carrying the Wadatsumi remain in the bay to support the landing.

All units participating in the operation are notified of the impending arrival of the Orbital Divers. If the Laser Class intercept them, the forces below may be hit by flaming wreckage falling from the sky.

BETA corpses lay piled on top of each other at the place where the Drop Team landed. The intensity of the battle against humanity's enemies is terrifying.

The BETA swarm could not be exterminated by bombardment alone. As a rain of shells fall, the Valkyries are forced to retreat to their defensive line.

The Valkyries are notified that bombardment will begin again in 10 minutes, after the fleet switches to AL rounds.

Three battalions from Whiskey Unit also enter the Hive through a different gate than the Orbital Divers.

The Sauber, Ghost, and Razor units of the Orbital Divers head for the main shaft, the center of the hive.

Sumika sighs and says that Takeru got bad grades because he didn't study.

Takeru leaves Hakuryo-Hiiragi, the formula in hand.

Takeru says he’d never thought that he’d lose what he cared about, or see it change. He asks Sumika if she can imagine life without him.

Sumika calls out to Takeru as he waits in his room.

Mikoto also realizes that Takeru has somehow changed.

The Surface Pilots participating as Red Team are all veterans with over 20 combat sorties.

The veterans tell Takeru he's obligated to answer the questions of a superior officer. Takeru has no choice but to tell the veterans that yes, he is the one behind the new OS.

He's told that there’s no time to argue, and that he has to go before the Laser Class arrive, but still he insists. The rest of his platoon intervenes to persuade him.

Takeru gets annoyed at himself, too. He's been forced to use hypnotic suggestions and drugs, and treated like an errand boy. He's better than this, he says.

The command room begins the exercise. Yuuko's mode in the command room is serious, even as the new surface pilots are jovial.

The Fubukis race across the practice ground. Takeru is even more excited. Now he may be able to save the world.

If he hadn't run away, this world’s Marimo might not have died. He howls that he had no choice but to run away, but his cry vanishes in the wind.

Meiya tells Takeru that the living have a duty to make the sacrifices of the dead mean something, and that he’s here of his own will.
